YAMS Foundation Charity Golf Day 

Our final Charity Golf Day was held at the Phillip Island Golf Course on Friday April 15th.  76 golfers enjoyed the beautiful weather, lunch, 18 holes of golf and a sausage sizzle at the end of the day.  This event has become a favourite of all who have supported us over the past 7 years and we raised a further $6,788 bringing the total raised from this event over the past 7 years to over $45,000!!  Thank you to everyone involved including our major sponsor the Phillip Island RSL, hole sponsors Mattioli and Bendigo Community Bank, other sponsors Westernport Water, Aquilla Wines, Phillip Island Golf Course, Yarra Bend Golf, and Ken Aly.  Special thanks always to Marcus Liberman, the golf pro who has supported this event over the years.  


 

Health, Fitness and Wellbeing Event – Saturday February 13, 2016

Last weekend, the Health, Fitness and Wellbeing event was held on Phillip Island.  It was planned by Jade Cranton with idea of getting us all moving.  There was something for everyone.  Meditation, yoga, body combat, running your first kms, long distance running, yummy mummy's, tai chai, animal flow, boot camp, nutrition, and A Nourished Mind Psychology presented to talks on Self Compassion and Mindful Eating.  We would like to thank all who participated, all the storeholders and the businesses who gave of their time to present their particular discipline.

Special thanks to Jade for all her hard work in pulling this together and for raising a further $850 for YAMS Foundation.  Special thanks to management at Amaroo for sponsoring the fee for the venue.


Little Ray of Sunshine Charity Book – Lens to Life Photography 

Thanks heaps to Lens to Life Photography for choosing YAMS Foundation for their Little Ray of Sunshine Charity Book.

Every few years, Lens to Life Photography attempt to give ‘something back’ by creating our series of charity books. These coffee table art books feature beautiful portraiture of children doing whatever it is that children love to do.

The first three books which were produced in 2009, 2010 & 2011 were created to raise funds for the charity ‘Relay For Life’ which is a part of the Cancer Council. In 2013 they produced another Kids of the Coast book in which proceeds were donated to the ‘Beau Vernon Fund’. Beau Vernon 23 (a local of Phillip Island), suffered a knock playing football. The serious injury caused severe trauma to his spinal cord leaving him a quadriplegic. They are pleased to say that as a combined effort these books have raised well over $30,000 for charity.

Join us on December 1st for Share The Sunshine Day

We are inviting schools and businesses to join us to celebrate the 1st day of summer with "Share The Sunshine Day".  For schools it will be "KIDS4KIDS Share The Sunshine Day" where they can celebrate summer, dress brightly, donate a gold coin and put a smile on a sick kid's face.

For businesses, display our Share The Sunshine Day poster, dress brightly and perhaps decorate your workplace, ask your customers to donate a gold coin and put a smile on a sick kid's face.

Neuroblastoma kids suffer so much during treatment, it is harsh in the extreme.  By celebrating this day with us and helping us raise funds for research, we will put a smile on their little faces.  What better reward can there be.


Bronte's Ball

The ever popular Bronte's Ball will be held on Saturday 10th October 2015 to celebrate the end of treatment for NB fighter Bronte Russell and to raise funds for YAMS Foundation and neuroblastoma research. 

The MC for the evening will be Nicky Buckley and entertainment will be Russell Morris and Johnny Rollins.  The beautiful venue is The Pier, Geelong and will include a 3 course meal and beverages.  Cost per head is $160 and tables of 10 are available. Official Charity for the 2015 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix

YAMS Foundation is the Official Charity for the 2015 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.  We are absolutely thrilled to be given this honour again this year, the 4th year in a row.  The event will be held at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit from Friday October 16 till Sunday October 18.  The official announcement will be made in the coming weeks.

Our main fundraising will be from ticket sales for our major raffle.  1st prize is a Honda CBR1000RR Motorcycle and we thank Honda sincerely for their assistance with this unit.  2nd prize is an Outfit from Draggin and 3rd prize is 2 X 3 day tickets in the Stoner Pavilion for the 2016 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.  Our thanks to Draggin and the Australian Grand Prix Corporation for donating these fabulous prizes.

Run Melbourne Sunday July 26, 2015

We are grateful to Luci Dalley Mannix and Dean Thomas who participated in this year's Run Melbourne.  Well done to you both.  Luci raised $805.12 and Dean $372.75.

Dean has been personally touched by neuroblastoma as he watched his cousin Casey Denis go through treatment.  Casey is a NB survivor.  Casey is pictured with Tanya, Casey's mum who was raising funds for Camp Quality.  Luci, pictured with Heidi, is a Phillip Islander and has been supportive of many of our fundraising efforts.  Thank you Luci and Dean.


Archie will shave his hair on the last day of term

9 year old Archie will shave his hair in memory of Kahlilla who he never knew.  His mum Helen, and Kahlilla's mum Nell were close friends through primary and secondary school.  Someone from Archie's school shaved their hair for the Leukemia Foundation and he wanted to do the same, but to raise money for YAMS Foundation.  We think this is pretty special for a 9 year old.  He is such a sweetie.  Go Archie.  If you would like to support his fundraising, please follow this link  https://give.everydayhero.com/au/archie-3


YAMS Foundation 6th Annual Charity Golf Day

Our annual golf day will be on Friday February 20, 2015 at the Phillip Island Gold Club, Settlement Road, Cowes.  This 4 person team Ambrose Event has been a huge success over the past 6 years.  Numbers are limited to 100 so register NOW.  Players meet for registration at 11am followed by a light lunch before setting out to play 18 holes.  Join us for a sausage sizzle at completion of play.  Registration for a team of 4 is $200 and individual players are welcome to register for $50


Paris is a neuroblastoma survivor and shaves her beautiful hair for YAMS

Paris WynenParis – goes – bald!! This is Phillip Island's Paris Wynen, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at just 2 years of age. She was diagnosed early and is a SURVIVOR!! This gorgeous girl now wants to shave her beautiful blonde locks to raise $$ for research so that other little kids, just like her, can have a chance at life. PLEASE PLEASE support Paris by donating, big or small, it doesn't matter, and help her reach her goal. Please spread the word. Her beautiful locks will go at Christmas on Phillip Island. Fight for your Cause Townsville – a Corporate Charity Boxing Event

Fight for your cause girlsTownsville will host "Fight for your Cause Townsville", a Corporate Charity Boxing Event on Friday September 26. Three Kye Townsville 1of the fighters have chosen YAMS Foundation as the recipient of their fundraising. Kath, Alehi and Teresa are all fighting for YAMS Foundation to honor Kath's little son Kye's fight to beat neuroblastoma  He is an inspiration to all who visit our page. Yellow Brick Road for a Sausage Sizzle

Yellow Brick Road's Sausage Sizzle fundraiser took place on Saturday July 19, 2014 at Logan Reserve, Altona, between 10 and 2pm. Thanks to everyone who supported this event.   This fundraiser raised close to $600 and they are hoping to bring the total to $1000 from sponsorship from other branches.  Our sincere thanks to all at Yellow Brick Road for their wonderful support.  We look forward to hearing the total raised for the event.


FKP/YAMS Foundation 5th Annual Charity Golf Day April 4, 2014. 

Our 5th Annual Charity Golf Day on February 4 was a great success with 21 teams.  The weather was great, and the day started with a light lunch and golf briefing at 11.30am.  Everyone enjoyed a sausage sizzle at the completion of the golf.  Thanks to everyone involved, we raised $6767 bringing the total from our annual golf days close to $36,000 over the past 5 years.

Christmas/New Year adds to our goal

Our Christmas Hamper and New Years Eve Fundraisers raised $3.600.  Sincere thansk to all those who helped in various ways including those who donated goods for our hamper, our wonderful volunteers and the locals and visitors of Phillip Island.  Together we will reach our goal.


YAMS Foundation to light up MotoGP for the second year in a row

We are thrilled to announce that You Are My Sunshine Foundation has been selected as the Official Charity of the 2013 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix for the second year running. Don't miss out on this fabulous event which runs from Friday October 18 till Sunday October 20.

Motorcycle buff and Offspring actor, Matt Le Nevez, has recently thrown his support behind the charity by signing up to be an ambassador. “I will be down at the Grand Prix with a tin doing everything I can to help. If I can do something for one kid, for one day, it means my whole career has been worth it,” said Le Nevez.

Matt will join over 100 volunteers in their bright pink vests who will be rattling tins and selling raffle tickets. Each and every cent of the money raised during the event will go straight toward crucial research into neuroblastoma to find a cure.

Last year we raised $110,000 over the 3 day event and we were overwhelmed by the generosity of the race goers. The money raised at the 2012 MotoGP allowed us to fund close to one year’s research.

This year Honda has kindly donated a beautiful CBR500 as first prize for our raffle and we have more exciting prizes for riders and visitors to win.

Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, Andrew Westacott says “we are thrilled to again be supporting such a worthwhile local charity and expects patrons will once again dig deep and get behind the cause”.


Gold Coin Table

A few dedicated volunteers spent Easter Saturday raising funds at our Gold Coin Table outside the Cowes Newsagency. Thanks to the generosity of visitors to Phillip Island and locals over the Easter break, we raised $1045.00.

YAMS Foundation Annual Golf Day reaches $29,300 over 4 years

The Phillip Island Golf Course was bathed in sunshine as golfers teed off for a fun filled game of golf on Friday April 5.The annual golf day hosted by FKP Property Group has now raised $20,300!! YAMS Foundation was also the recipient of Stockdale & Leggo’s 2010 Golf Day which raised $9000, a total over the 4 years of $29,300. We are very grateful for the ongoing support of FKP Property Group and are pleased to announce that they will be our major sponsor for again for 2014.

Aussie golfing legend Mike Clayton challenged players to beat the pro on the 7th hole. Needless to say, Mike’s drive was hard to beat and YAMS Foundation came out the winner with only a couple of players being able to double their money.

“We are delighted that this day has become an annual event on Phillip Island and look forward to its continued popularity amongst locals and visitors alike” Jude Donahoo, chairperson of the foundation said. “What better way to spend a day than to start with some yummy gourmet sandwiches, 18 rounds of golf with your mates and a sausage sizzle with the best local sausages on the Island".  Special thanks to Island Primary Produce and Bakers Delight for their ongoing support with our catering together with all the other businesses who donated prizes for our raffle. We couldn’t do it without your support. We could not have achieved this result without the support of the Phillip Island Golf Club and Marcus and his team at the Pro Shop. Our sincere thanks to you all.

You Are My Sunshine Foundation is the legacy of Phillip Island’s Kahlilla Donahoo who died at just 5 years of age from neuroblastoma, a deadly and aggressive childhood cancer. “We are committed to raising funds to support neuroblastoma research with the goal of finding a cure. Our Foundation is run entirely by dedicated volunteers so 100 percent of all funds raised goes to our research program”, Jude said.

“50 years ago, children diagnosed with the most common leukaemia, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) were given little chance of survival. Through targeted research, these children now have a 90 – 95% chance at survival. We want this same chance at life for our neuroblastoma kids, and this will only be achieved through research.

We have a tentative booking for YAMS Foundation’s 2014 golf day for Friday February 14, 2014 and are awaiting confirmation in the next week or so, so stay tuned. In the meantime, we are seeking sponsors for the 18 holes. Sponsorship is $500 and includes registration for a team of 4. “Please consider sponsoring a hole in 2014. The only way that we will find a cure for these beautiful little kids is through research, and research is very expensive” Jude said. Bikers give back to Phillip Island – $110,000!!

As the official charity of the 2012 AirAsia Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, we raised in excess of $110,000, thanks to the generosity of the patrons of this fabulous event. What is even better is that every cent raised will go towards funding up to 12 months of crucial research into finding a cure for neuroblastoma.

 We are absolutely overwhelmed by the support and kindness of everyone involved with this year’s event. The generosity of the 2012 AirAsia Australian Motorcycle event-goers was just amazing; their support has been very touching. Not only did the estimated record crowd of 122,470 patrons enjoy all the on and off track action, but they also gave generously and donated the largest amount of money ever raised by an official charity during the event.

Special mention must go to our Ambassador, Australian Superbike rider Wayne Maxwell who worked so hard to help us raise awareness of neuroblastoma, and raise so much money. Congratulations to Wayne on his achievement of being 1st overall in the Superbike/Superstock1000 class. What an exciting rider to watch, you had us all on the edge of our seats. All class is all we can say Wayne and well done!

We could not have achieved this outcome without the assistance of Freestyle Honda in Seaford who generously sponsored the Honda CBR 250R for our raffle! Thanks so much to Jason Newton and his team at Freestyle Honda and congratulations to Phillip Island’s James Patton, winner of this great little bike!

To all our wonderful volunteers who worked tirelessly rattling buckets, selling raffle tickets and Barry Sheene pins and badges, our heartfelt thanks!! This was such a huge task and we thank each and every one of our volunteers for their hard work. You can be very proud of your achievements.

There are so many people who contributed in many ways over the 5 days of the event and we thank them all. These include Swann Insurance, Ray Pobjoy and the Norton Owners Club who ran the Classics Cowes 2012, Jarrod Hauser who cut his dreadlocks on stage, and all who attended the Barry Sheene 10th Anniversary dinner and auction at Bairnsdale.

Last but not least. The wonderful team at the Australian Grand Prix Corporation led by Andrew Westacott. What a machine you are!! Thanks so much for the opportunity to be the official charity for this year’s biggest event ever! We are so proud to have been part of this, and the winners are the beautiful little neuroblastoma kids we are desperately trying to save.


 Dreads to go for Kids Cancer

Jarrod Doogie Hauser has had dreads for 4 years but has decided it is time to go. What better cause than to raise funds to find a cure for neuroblastoma.
